Construction and Engineering Disputes

Hamlins has significant experience in dealing with construction and engineering disputes including disputes relating to the financing behind projects, claims for delay and loss and expense, claims for negligent design and/or workmanship and project overspends. We are experienced in dealing with programming, quantum and mechanical and electrical issues.

We have a good understanding of how the construction industry works and have strong relationships with experts in all relevant disciplines.

In addition to direct construction work, we have specific experience handling construction and engineering insurance claims under Contractor’s All Risks, Project, Professional Indemnity and Public liability policies acting on behalf of policyholders.

We have dealt with highly technical engineering disputes involving issues such as power station operation, steam chemistry, metallurgy, non-destructive testing and fire damage. Our sector expertise, in depth forensic analysis of our clients’ problems and commercial approach means we provide our clients with appropriate strategic advice taking into account all legal and commercial considerations and we find the most commercial and cost effective resolutions to disputes. As well as litigation experience, we have experience in arbitration and other dispute resolution processes such as adjudication, mediation and expert determination.
