Judicial Review granted an award of EU Law damages against UK Premium Rate Service Regulator

Following a 3 day hearing in the Administrative Court in late 2014, on 16 January 2015, judgment was handed down in favour of the Ordanduu GmbH and Optimus Mobile GmbH (“Claimants”) in their claim for judicial review against PhonepayPlus Limited, the regulator of premium rate telephone services in the UK.

The Judge, Mr Justice Supperstone, granted the Claimants’ judicial review and ordered that PhonepayPlus pay the Claimants damages to be assessed in a separate hearing in due course. PhonepayPlus were also refused permission to appeal the Judgment to the Court of Appeal.

The Claimants were represented by Hamlins LLP, Dinah Rose QC and Gerry Facenna.
