Hamlins’ Real Estate partner quoted in Estates Gazette on the online food retail market

Changes in the online food retail sector could mean that more warehousing requirements will be needed. With Amazon’s entry among other retailers into the UK online food delivery market, it raises the question of whether there will be a net increase or decrease in the amount of logistics space required by the sector and, if the former, whether developers should be considering building speculative units to meet the demand.

In the recent Estates Gazette article ‘Food for Thought’,  Hamlins’ Real Estate partner Ben Kilshaw suggests that developers modify the design of future buildings: “To allow easy expansion of newly constructed warehouses, including higher eaves to allow for the construction of mezzanines and additional land to enable extensions to the space”.
