Aselle Djumabaeva-Wood

Aselle Djumabaeva-Wood is a Russian speaking dually qualified solicitor in the Company Commercial Department.

She joined Hamlins in March 2009. She studied law at Moscow Lomonosov University in Russia and Kyrgyz State University before graduating in 1994. She obtained a Diploma in English Law from BPP Law School in London in 2004 and an LLM in Tax Law from Queen Mary and Westfield College (University of London) in 2008.

She is the first Kyrgyz lawyer who is also qualified as an English solicitor.

Between 1994 and 2002, she practised law in the Kyrgyz Republic working as a lawyer in private practice, legal advisor to the Mayor of Bishkek City (capital of the Kyrgyz Republic) and visiting lecturer at the Bishkek University. She established her own law firm in Bishkek in 1999. Her law firm was retained by a number of multinational companies with operations in the Kyrgyz Republic to advise on various matters of their business activities.

She has experience in advising on business contracts, employment law, company commercial matters and tax law in CIS and in England.
